THE MOUNT MERU TOUR GUIDES TRAINING SCHOOL

The mount meru tour guides training and international languages school was formally established in 1998, by a group of professional guides aiming to set a standard for nature guiding practice. It was registered in 2017 as a professional tour guides training centre (Registration no. 432862).

MMTGS  represents individual Tourist Guides, Nature, Culture and Adventure guides, Trackers and organizations involved in offering professional guiding services to members of the public.

MOUNT MERU TOUR GUIDES TRAINING  has set guiding standards for many years and continues to maintain the highest standards within the guiding industry. In conjunction with TTGA within the National Qualifications Framework, MMTGS  promotes the standards for guiding throughout  in the form of:

  • A standard outcomes-based training syllabus
  • A code of ethics and a set of guiding principles
  • An assessment system based on high standards of competence
  • An effective training-course .
  • A valid recognized First Aid Certificate requirement

The aims of mmtgs

  • Provide educational opportunities to promote the conservation and rehabilitation of the cultural and natural heritage of Tanzania.
  • To maintain and serve a professional association of highly-trained tourist guides, tour operators and hospitality.
  • To promote a culture of professional guiding based on a strong ethical, well-informed, safety conscious approach that provides the visitor to Tanzania with a pleasant and memorable experience.
  • To fully commit to the development and implementation of the national qualifications, promoting the development of all tourist guides including historically disadvantaged individuals, as a part of the TANZANIA  transformation process.
  • To promote the development of guides through the use of training programmes that conforms to high standards of learner development.
  • To promote the highest standards of guide assessment by appointing fully qualified and experienced assessors.

MMTGS Promotes a standard of excellence through;

  • Promoting the development of guiding skills and the progressive levels of professional qualifications.
  • Promoting the tourist guide qualifications in the national qualifications framework.
  • Encouraging a professional ethical code of conduct.
  • Providing a set of professional guiding principles.
  • Quality assurance of guides, trackers, trainers and assessors.
  • A training syllabus and an evaluation system that promotes the development of guides in the National Qualifications Framework.
  • The requirement of a valid recognized First Aid Certificate and the promotion of a high standard of First Aid training for the tourism guiding industry.

MMTGS is a  accredited training provider for tourism guiding in Tanzania. The equivalent tour  qualifications can be attained through MMTGS, thus allowing you to attain the required National Skills Program Certificates and Qualifications. MMTGS is continually adding qualifications to their scope in terms of TTGA accreditation. At present some of the national qualifications/skills programmes can be attained through MMTGS. There are also numbers of other MMTGS Certificates that are exclusive to MMTGS.

  •  Transferring, welcoming and meeting of guests on arrival
  • Assist with check in procedures and porter age duties
  • Providing guided game drives, game walks, and tours of our predator sanctuary
  • Ensure that all vehicles and field equipment are kept in excellent working order
  • Responsible for all preparation for own game drive
  • Hosting guests in the evenings after game drive (includes dining with guests)
  • Assisting with routine and preventative maintenance in and around the lodge as needed
  • When the camp is not busy you will be expected to assist with our volunteer program and its related duties                                                                                                                    Ensure ongoing compliance with company procedures; Assist with ongoing projects and related administration.
