How to Apply

How to Join the Institute

Below are joining instructions:-

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

To qualify for admission into our tour guiding and hospitality programs, every applicant must meet the requirements below. These standards ensure students are fully prepared for academic learning, fieldwork, and the professional expectations of the tourism industry.


1. Academic Qualifications

Applicants must submit certified copies of the following:

  • Minimum education:

    • Form Four Certificate (CSEE) with a minimum pass in English and Geography; or

    • Form Six Certificate (ACSEE) with at least one principal pass; or

    • Equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.

Students applying for advanced or diploma programs must meet the program-specific entry criteria.


2. Age Requirement

  • Minimum age: 17 years at the time of admission.

  • Students below 18 must provide a signed parental/guardian consent letter.


3. Language Ability

Since lectures, field sessions, and assessments are conducted in English and Swahili, applicants must demonstrate:

  • Basic proficiency in English communication

  • Ability to write and read Swahili or English comfortably


4. Medical Fitness

All applicants must undergo a medical examination and submit a fitness certificate confirming they are physically capable of:

  • Walking long distances

  • Participating in outdoor field activities

  • Handling early morning and full-day excursions

  • Working in varied weather conditions

Applicants with medical conditions should disclose them early so proper support can be arranged.


5. Identification Documents

Every applicant must bring the following originals and two photocopies:

  • National ID, Voter ID, or Passport

  • Birth certificate

  • Recent passport-size photographs (minimum 4)


6. Character & Conduct Requirements

Applicants should demonstrate:

  • Good behaviour and respect for authority

  • No history of serious misconduct

  • Willingness to work in teams, follow safety rules, and respect wildlife and the environment

A recommendation letter from a school, community leader, or employer is encouraged (optional but helpful).


7. Payment of Application Fee

All applications must include proof of payment of the non-refundable application fee.

No application will be processed without this payment.


8. Interview (Where Applicable)

Some programs may require:

  • A short interview

  • A written assessment

  • A motivation statement explaining why you want to study tour guiding

This helps the college understand your interest and readiness for the course.


9. For International Students

International applicants must provide:

  • Valid passport

  • Student visa (or entry permit where required)

  • Proof of English or Swahili language ability

  • Proof of ability to cover tuition and living expenses


10. Special Requirements for Field Training

Because tour guiding involves practical fieldwork, applicants must be ready to provide and use:

  • Comfortable closed walking shoes

  • Outdoor clothing

  • Water bottle

  • Personal first-aid awareness (basic knowledge encouraged)

Qualifications

For All New Students – 2026 Intake

The following instructions must be followed before reporting to the college.

Failure to comply may delay your registration or affect your admission status.


1. Confirm Your Admission

Before joining, ensure you have completed the following:

  • Download and print your admission letter.

  • Sign the acceptance slip and return it to the admissions office by: 03/01/2026.

  • If you will not join on the reporting date, officially inform the college in writing.


2. Complete All Required Payments

All fees must be cleared before arrival.

This includes:

  • Tuition fee

  • Registration fee

  • Student ID fee

  • Field training fee

  • Accommodation fee (if applicable)

After paying:

  • Keep two photocopies of the payment slip.

  • Email a scanned copy to the finance office at: [Email].


3. Undergo Medical Examination

You must complete a full medical check-up at any registered hospital or clinic before joining.

A filled and stamped medical form must be presented on registration day.

Mandatory checks include:

  • General physical exam

  • Vision check

  • Blood pressure

  • Fitness evaluation for field activities

Students with chronic medical conditions must disclose them confidentially.


4. Prepare Required Documents

Make sure you have all documents below before arrival:

  • Admission letter

  • Birth certificate

  • National ID / Passport

  • Academic certificates (Form Four / Form Six / Diploma etc.)

  • Medical form

  • 4 passport-size photos

  • Fee payment receipt

Keep all documents in a clearly labeled folder.


5. Arrange Accommodation in Advance

If you need college accommodation:

  • Apply early and wait for confirmation.

  • Pay the accommodation fee before arrival.

If staying off-campus:

  • Choose a safe, reliable, and student-friendly area.

  • Arrange transport to campus beforehand.


6. Prepare the Required Items

Before joining, ensure you have the following essential items:

Personal Items
  • Bed sheets, blanket, pillow, and mosquito net

  • Personal clothes suitable for both class and field trips

  • Toiletries

Academic & Field Items
  • Notebook + pens

  • Backpack

  • Comfortable walking shoes

  • Water bottle

  • Flashlight

  • Lightweight raincoat (for field training)


7. Understand the College Expectations

Before joining, all students must agree to:

  • Attend all classes and field activities

  • Maintain discipline and respect for staff and peers

  • Avoid drugs, alcohol abuse, and misconduct

  • Follow safety guidelines during field trips

  • Protect wildlife and the environment at all times


8. Read the College Handbook

A digital copy of the Student Handbook will be sent to you.

Read it carefully before reporting to understand:

  • Course structure

  • Assessment methods

  • Attendance rules

  • Code of conduct

  • Field safety protocols


9. Prepare Yourself Physically

Tour guiding requires physical activity.

Before joining, students are advised to:

  • Begin light exercises (walking, stretching)

  • Ensure they can walk long distances comfortably

  • Prepare mentally for outdoor field classes


10. Reporting Day Requirements

On the reporting day, students must bring:

  • All required documents

  • Payment receipts

  • Field gear

  • Personal items

Registration will not proceed without complete documents and cleared payments.
